Biography:

Danish artist born in Vejrum, he was one of the founders of the CoBrA movement. After living in Paris, he returned to Denmark during the war and became a member of the communist party. Feeling less and less free, he broke with the communist party and returned to France after the war. He continued to feel profoundly communist, whilst still searching for total liberty in art. He remained part of the "Mouvement International pour un Bauhaus Imaginiste" (MIBI), in keeping with CoBrA, and finally participated in the international situationist movement.
