Pierre Alechinsky
1927
Biography:

Pierre Alechinsky was born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1927 and studied at the Ecole nationale supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts visuels de La Cambre in Brussels. He was a member of the "Jeune peinture belge" group and was later very involved in the CoBrA movement, perpetuating the CoBrA spirit after the group was dissolved. He developed his skills in engraving and discovered oriental calligraphy, adopting ink rather than oil for a more fluid and supple style. From 1965, he used the technique of acrylic painting. A retrospective of his work was held at the Musées royaux des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles in 2007-2008.
