Biography: 

Belgian painter, engraver, sculptor and photographer, born in Cologne in 1910 and died in 1985. He came to live in Brussels with his family in 1919. He completed his higher education in Paris at the Ecole d'Arts Appliqués. From then on he became close to the surrealists and took part in their events. He co-authored a review with René Magritte called « L'invention collective ». He worked in many artistic disciplines, but it was to painting that he devoted his final years.
